How to arrive
There are three airports on the island of Sardinia:
Alghero Fertilia is the nearest airport to Bosa and is 45 km away
Olbia Costa Smeralda is on the NE coast of the island and is about 170 km distant
Cagliari Elmas is in the south of the island and is 180 km away
Lowcost airlines such as Ryanair and Easyjet fly to these airports, as do the bigger carriers. Check websites for details.
To get to Bosa it is possible to take public transport. Trains from Olbia and Cagliari go to Macomer some 25 km to the east of Bosa. Buses arrive in Bosa itself from Alghero airport and Macomer.
Many people prefer to hire cars and it is useful to look at broker sites such as www.travelsupermarket.com for prices and availabilities.
Ferries come from mainland Italy and France to Porto Torres in the north of the island and Olbia, Arbatax and Golfo Arancia to the east. Public transport is somewhat more complicated from these arrival points and most people who come by ferry bring their own car.
